Perhaps you would like to improve your grades, your performance in sports, or on stage. Perhaps you would like to make friends more easily, learn to like yourself more and feel better. Perhaps you would like to interview well, or you have an unhealthy habit you want to stop.
Every day we help students like you to create success by changing their unhelpful thinking patterns, old habits, negative beliefs and unwanted behaviours, for more positive ones.
Did you know our brains learn through repetition? In fact, this is how we learnt to first walk, then run. This learning forms a circuit in our unconscious mind and when that circuit is used frequently through practice, our behaviour becomes automatic. Some circuits can be very helpful, such as learning to absorb information quickly, enjoy school and be confident. But some of these circuits can actually work against us. For example, you may have a circuit which makes you feel shy or anxious. You could have a circuit that says you can’t do something important like mathematics, writing an essay or revision.
We now know that the many pressures you face in your teenage years can lead to issues with mental health. When stress hormones are activated over a sustained period of time, they can very powerfully and negatively distort your thinking, feelings, motivation and ability to stay focused. This means that, even though you may have studied very hard for your exams, you may not perform as well as you could, because of nerves and anxiety. Just like eating well and exercising can prevent you from getting ill, learning to control stress in times of pressure, can prevent mental health problems developing.
It can be difficult for teenagers like you, to know whether changes in your behaviour are natural reactions to the growth hormones your body is emitting, or symptoms of some deeper mental health troubles. To help you work out what is happening consider the following. If your behaviour has been different for a long period of time, and if your family and friends are noticing a big change, it maybe that you could be suffering from stress.
Dramatic, long-lasting changes in personality, mood or behaviour should be taken seriously. Speak to the people around you who are there to support you. It’s important to let them know how you are feeling, so that you can get some help. Stress and anxiety can have a major effect of the quality of your learning.

"As part of our Thrive Week, we were pleased to host a Mind Training workshop led by Penny Johnson from the Seraphina Mind Studio, for 80 of our 6th form girls. The girls learned some invaluable information and cutting edge techniques, to elicit positive states of mind and manage stress, as well as how to get into the optimal learning state. I particularly enjoyed the mind relaxation techniques at the end, which left me feeling calm and relaxed for the day ahead. This is very much aligned to our ethos here at Woldenham School, so I/we whole- heartedly support the benefits of Mind Training with Seraphina Mind Studio for positive mental health and learning. “

Turning negative minds into successful minds.
Here at the Seraphina Mind Studio we have seen significant increases in the numbers of students and teachers referred for a broad range of stress and anxiety related problems. From poor concentration, focus, negative self-image, IBS, depression, OCD, eating disorders, stammering to self-harm and panic, the list is growing.
Stress and anxiety hormones are clinically proven to disable cognitive functioning, distorting feeling and emotions. Many of these problems could easily be minimised and even avoided with the correct mind training and knowledge.
Our Successful Minds Program has proved to be an invaluable tool set; many parents and teachers have been amazed at the positive changes they have experienced in themselves, their students and children. During exams some of the most negative, low-grade students became high achievers, attaining grades above their predicted expectations. They sailed through their exams calmly and confidently.
